Does anyone still read this?!

If anyone still reads this.... this is just a note to say that I will not be using this site anymore (as I haven't used it in a couple of months!) Instead, you can check out my other blog www.getjealous.com/j.c. (make sure to have both periods in between j and c - if you just click on the link, you will go to another (much boring) site that isn't mine).

I want people's feedback on the movies "United 93" and "World Trade Center." I saw a preview to the movie "United 93" the other day and almost left because just seeing the preview made me upset. I was crying and I didn't even lose someone on September 11, 2001. But just seeing the preview made me remember that period - I was in Europe visiting family and everything was so emotional and then we had to worry about travelling back home - it was just overwhelming.
So here's the thing - when I first heard that movies were being made about 9/11, I was pretty unhappy about it - personally, I just think it's too soon to start filming this and putting it on the big screen for people to watch as entertainment. But the more I think about this, how is this film different than ones made about WWII or Somalia (like the movie "Blackhawk Down")? Other real-life events that have taken loved ones from people have been "Hollywoodized" and used to profit others, so why is this one about September 11 any different... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I agree with these movies. But I'm not sure I entirely disagree with them either... I guess I'm just questioning at where to draw the line. When do movies which depict awful things become entertainment to us? Should we be watching movies that de-sensitize us? hmmm..... So yeah, I'd like to hear what you all have to say - post away!

WOW the last week has been insane... In the last week (in order)
  1. I was hired to be an ERT executive!
  2. I've been accepted to go on exchange! I will be going to Slovenia for my fall term
  3. I have found a co-op job! It's at Columbia International College which means moving home for the summer (which Lindsay and Mark are thrilled about!)
  4. I've had to step down as an ERT exec (because of exchange) - I'm pretty bummed that I can't do both, but I'm sure in 10 years I'll be glad to have picked exchange!

Crap going to be late for work...

ok... So I'm sitting on campus and I'm supposed to be doing work... Instead, I'm reading April's issue of Fitness. Here are some random stats (because you all know how I love randomness!)
  • It only takes 1-4 cigarettes per day to quintuple your risk of dying from lung cancer (according to Tabacco Control)
  • Holding in a sneeze can cause nasal-cartilage fractures, nosebleeds, busrt eardrums, hearing loss, vertigo, detached retinas or temporary facial swelling!
  • "Torch extra calories effortlessly by celebrating TV-Turnoff week from April 24-30. If you're a typical four-hour-a-day viewer like most American women, you could burn an extra 2,300 calories just by switching off the set for seven days and spending that time cooking, doing crafts or shopping instead"
  • "According to a study published in the Wisconsin Medical Journal, women who vacationed only once in two years were more likely to be depressed and suffer marital disatisfaction than those who took vacations twice or more per year."

wow, typing all that out was SO much better than doing school work!

In response to a post by "anonymous" regarding my last entry...

Think back over the last 5 years, 1 year, or sometimes even just the past month and see how things have changed.
Who would have guessed at the beginning of my university education that I would change one of my majors three times?
Who would have guessed that six years ago, a girl who I didn't get along with at all would become my best friend, my "big sister"?
Who would have predicted that the man I love today was six years ago the boy who taught me at Air Cadets to go to the "big, freaking plane" outside in the case of a fire? =D (yes, I do remember that!)
Think about the next couple of months or next couple of years. Where will I be then? I don't even know yet where I'm living this summer, or this fall. Come September, I may not even be studying in Canada. In the next couple of years, where will I be working? Here in Canada? Africa?
It's scary when you think about it. But really exciting if you don't die from a panic attack first!
